TELLTALE GAMES GAME OF THRONES EPISODE 5 TV
I've praised the the game's focus on the Forrester family before they are always the most interesting characters on screen at any given time, overshadowing cameos from the TV show's stars. That's not to say Sons of Winter is without its bright points, however: they come in the form of the episode's secondary characters, who unravel their own backstories and add more interesting dilemmas. I'm applying this moniker to Sons of Winter, the fourth episode of Telltale's Game of Thrones, because it marks a departure from the series' dramatic tension and, unfortunately, is starting to mimic its source material in all-too-predictable ways.

The studio has had a rough history with delivering episodic content on time, but hopefully Game of Thrones will mark a turning point in their scheduling abilities.A friend once joked that HBO's Game of Thrones should be renamed "A Series of Meetings," given its string of recent episodes featuring more exposition and chatter than action. Telltale has been coyly teasing Game of Thrones without revealing in-game content for some time now, and with the game expected to arrive within the next 2 months, fans are expecting the studio to have no shortage of content ready to hype up the upcoming release. The first episode of the game is called Iron From Ice, which most suspect is a play at a popular quote from the book series which refers to Stannis as 'Iron' whilst his elder brother Robert was compared to true steel, and his younger brother Renly copper. It's likely that the game will take place during Stannis Baratheon's time attempting to save the North, which would conveniently place the game right around where the television show is due to pick up from in the upcoming season. Previous teasers from the game seem to indicate that Game of Thrones will focus on House Forrester, who kneel to the Glover family within the wolfswood of the North. The choices that each playable character makes will drastically impact not only what happens throughout the general storyline, but will directly impact their family members as well - much like the decisions of the Starks from the books and television show. The tweet which revealed the image also stated that the season is premiering 'soon', so we wouldn't be surprised to see some overdue screenshots and perhaps even a trailer within the coming weeks. Interestingly, it hasn't been revealed if the game will even take place in King's Landing at any point - most signs indicate a strong focus on The North, though the game may take players across several areas as they jump between 5 playable characters, a feature which was only revealed last week. The image features the Iron Throne draped in the throne room's dramatic lighting, a scene which show-watchers will have become accustom to seeing. The latest teaser image shows a drastically different aesthetic than other Telltale games, straying from the usual cell-shaded art style to a much more intricate and detailed oil paint aesthetic. This is great news for fans of the show, especially considering Telltale usually only puts out a 5 episode run for each season of their other titles. This time, however, the teaser image confirms that the first season of Telltale's Game of Thrones will feature six episodes, with the first still on schedule to arrive before the new year. Telltale Games has released yet another teaser image for the upcoming Game of Thrones series, which will follow the choice-based storytelling styles of The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us.
